Company Charity of the Year

FOL are looking ahead to 2013 and aiming to be Charity of the Year for a business or company. Do you work for a company that supports a Charity of the Year programme? If so, FOL would love to hear from you as we launch a campaign to become Charity of the Year in as many places as possible. Equally, if you are inspired with an a suggestion of a place you would like to see FOL become Charity of the Year please get in touch – admin@friendsoflondiani.com

Better Together video competition

Better Together is a nationwide campaign which aims to build support for hundreds of community, voluntary and charitable organisations across the country by encouraging the public to support these good causes and make a difference.

One part of this campaign is a video competition with a cash prize of €3,000. Friends of Londiani have entered a video in this competition and would really appreciate your support in being in with a chance of winning!

It's all about the number of votes the video receives - you can vote online once a day between now and November 19th. The 10 videos with the most public votes will be shortlisted once voting ends on 19 November. The judges will then pick the winning videos (based on merit and creativity) and the winners will be announced at the Better Together Awards Ceremony in Dublin on December 6th.

If just 50 supporters vote once a day between Oct 1st and Nov 19th the FOL video will have 2,500 votes! Can you please help this year's video to make it into the top 10? VOTE NOW.

Ode to Christmas shopping …

"It was 12 weeks to Christmas and all through the house, not a thought of Christmas shopping not even from a mouse!
Adverts and leaflets came by post and email
and efforts to avoid it were destined to fail.
Lists were drawn up and it soon it would be clear,
who needed thanks for being kind through the year.
Then news in from FOL offered ideas and solutions
Gifts from Kenya for Christmas would be this year's resolutions.
Handmade Cribs, Angels, Santa's and handbags to please
Gifts large and small to purchase with online ease.
Products will soon be launched so please hold on tight
To make Christmas happy for all keep an eye on FOL's website!"

The FOL 'Christmas shop' will be launched online in early November. You are invited to a pre-Christmas sales day at the FOL office in Midleton on Thursday November 15th between 2pm and 9pm. Drop in to see samples of what is available, starting your Christmas shopping and have a mince pie!

Wedding favours for FOL

Inspiring Irish volunteers Colleen Clarke & Eoin Gannon launched the FOL wedding favours at their recent wedding in August. Having first met whilst volunteering with FOL in Kenya, they got engaged while on a subsequent project in a local community in Londiani. Colleen & Eoin supported FOL at their wedding reception by using the Big Six wedding favours as place name cards for their guests.

The theme of the FOL wedding favours are The Big Six which are based on the big six safari animals in Kenya, they highlight six big projects by the communities in Londiani. Couples interested in using the cards as wedding favours can get further information from the FOL office or online. A minimum of 4 weeks' notice is required.

Pictured here are Colleen and Eoin launching the wedding favours on their own wedding day!
