Lisa Doherty is a Principal Officer at the Department of Justice.  Lisa has vast experience working in public service, predominantly in international development, including seven years living and working in Kenya.

Carole Barry Kinsella is a retired Consultant Obstetrician/Gynaecologist, Rotunda, and James Connolly Hospitals and a Honorary Senior Lecturer Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

Dr. Betty Langat

CHAIR

Dr. Langat is the County Director for Health – Kericho County. She has worked in partnership with Brighter Communities Worldwide for many years, and brings her health and medical expertise to the Board of Directors.

Maria Kidney is a Co-Founder of the organisation. She is a qualified accountant and a public health practitioner with more than 20 years business and development experience across multiple organisations.

Martin has held multiple roles in Brighter Communities Worldwide since 2002 including Board Member, Project Leader for Volunteer Groups, Trainer of Volunteer Groups and Executive Director.

Mary Kabiru

Board Member

Mary is an agricultural economist and project management specialist who previously served as Brighter Communities Worldwide’s Program and Operations Manager from 2016 to 2020. She currently leads strategic growth and resource mobilization at Cytek Solar and brings extensive experience in grant writing, monitoring and evaluation, and community development.

Daniel Kirui

Board Member

Daniel is a retired Public Health Officer with 37 years’ experience in community health, water and sanitation, and maternal and child health in Kericho County. He has worked closely with Brighter Communities Worldwide since its inception and has served as a board member of several schools in Kenya.

Andrew Macharia

Board member

Andrew is a retired Headmaster from Londiani with a wealth of educational and strong governance experience. He was worked at eight different schools in Kericho County and served on many school boards.

Fidelis Mambo Nyamari 

Board member

Fidelis is trained in Environmental Management by the Kenya Wildlife Service Training Institute. He has vast experience in sustainable agriculture programmes and has led the development of the Franciscan Peace and Environment Centre in Molo.

Eunice Sigei

Board Member

Eunice is a former Chief Officer for Kericho County’s Department of Education, Youth Affairs, Sports, Culture and Social Services, and a retired head teacher. She currently serves on the Kericho County Budget and Economic Forum and the Imarisha SACCO Board, and has long been active in community initiatives supporting women’s health and girls’ education.

Annah Chelangat Soi

Annah served as the Nurse in Charge of Londiani Sub County Hospital for over 20 years. She is a registered nurse and midwife with 35 years experience across various health facilities in Kenya.

Rosemary Rop

Board Member

is a water, environment and social development specialist who served as Kericho County’s Executive Committee Member for Water, Energy, Environment and Climate Change. She has served on several boards, including the Lake Victoria Water Works Development Agency, and continues to consult for the World Bank on governance and social accountability.

Operations Manager

Rose Hennessy manages the activities and responsibilities of Brighter Communities Worldwide in Ireland. She has been involved with the organisation for many years starting out as a volunteer on Harambee.

Linda is responsible for creating and implementing plans to achieve our annual fundraising target through a variety of streams. She is a natural communicator and has many years of experience delivering effective fundraising strategies.

Book Keeper and Administrator

Clare supports implementation of the finance accounts function of the charity as Book Keeper and Administrator. She has extensive experience in in project management, procurement, data analysis and customer service.

Damaris Chepkemboi Ngelelei

Administration Manager

Damaris leads BCW’s operational, procurement, financial administration and compliance systems, supervising the Administration, Logistics and Accounts teams. She also serves as BCW Kenya’s Safeguarding Officer, ensuring safeguarding is embedded across the organisation.

Programme Manager - Health & SRHR

Thomas provides strategic and operational leadership for BCW’s Health and SRHR programme team, driving quality service delivery, strong staff performance and effective partnerships with government, donors and communities across the portfolio. He works with government, donors and partners to advance quality, accountable health and SRHR programming.

Resilience Programme Manager

Anita leads BCW’s Resilience portfolio, covering Climate & Environment, WASH, Healthy Schools and Economic Empowerment, and provides technical leadership on climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction across BCW’s wider programming. She works with government, donors and partners to advance climate-resilient, community-led development.

Community Engagement and Partnerships Officer

Reuben leads BCW’s community entry, stakeholder coordination and feedback mechanisms across Kericho County, working closely with chiefs, ward administrators and county departments.  He helps ensure BCW’s programmes remain locally led, inclusive and accountable to the communities it serves.

Jackline Chepngeno

Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer

Jackline leads BCW’s results and data systems, ensuring high-quality data collection, analysis and reporting across all programme areas, and coordinates baseline, midline and endline surveys. She works closely with programme teams to embed evidence-based learning and strengthen accountability to donors and communities.

Hezron Kipkemoi

Hezron supports BCW’s monitoring, evaluation and learning systems by ensuring programme data is collected, entered and organised accurately across all areas. He also supports surveys and assessments and helps keep monitoring records complete, consistent and audit-ready.

Winny Chepchirchir

Accounts Clerk

Winny supports the organisation’s day-to-day financial administration, processing payments, managing petty cash and MPESA records, and maintaining accurate documentation for audit and donor compliance. She works closely with programme staff to ensure financial systems remain accurate and transparent.

Procurement Officer

Everline leads BCW’s procurement processes, ensuring goods, services and equipment are acquired transparently and in compliance with donor and Kenyan requirements. She works closely with the Logistics Officer to ensure operations run smoothly across all programmes.

John Lelei Sawe

Logistics Officer

John leads BCW’s logistics and asset management systems.  He supervises BCW’s drivers and works closely with programme teams to keep supplies and equipment moving smoothly to project sites

Jane Kisoryo

Office Support Officer

Jane maintains a clean, safe and welcoming environment across BCW’s office and volunteer accommodation.  She also helps ensure BCW’s volunteers have a comfortable and well-organised stay.

Driver

Reuben is responsible for the safe, professional transport of BCW staff, partners and visitors, keeping vehicles well-maintained and fully compliant with Kenyan road regulations. He also supports logistics for programme activities and provides transport for visiting groups across Kericho County.

Simon Chepkwony

Security Supervision Officer & Receptionist.

Simon manages reception and access control at BCW’s offices, and supervises the security staff protecting BCW’s premises, equipment and project sites. He also oversees day-to-day facility upkeep and helps implement BCW’s safety and security procedures.

Bernard Cheruiyot Ronoh

Senior Driver

Bernard is responsible for the safe operation and upkeep of BCW’s vehicle fleet, as well as the proper storage, dispatch and documentation of supplies and equipment delivered to project sites. He also supports logistics for programme activities and provides transport for visiting groups.

She strengthens links between community health structures, health facilities and the Ministry of Health to improve access to timely, quality care.

Hellen supports Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care and Remote Emergency Care programming, training and mentoring frontline health workers and strengthening referral pathways between community first responders and local health facilities.
